To take the properties required by the material of hot working dies as the point of departure
the defects and deficiency of common martensitic and austenitic die steels are ana- lyzed. A newly prepared dual-phase (α+γ) alloy as well as designing and strengthening mechanism of this alloy are concisely introduced. The conclusion is made that the new dual- phase alloy is suitable to manufacture the die working at 750℃ by comparing the new dual- phase alloy with common martensitic and austenitic die steels in hot mechanical property

hardness on interior surface of mould and the life of mould. It is hardly too much to say that the new dual-phase alloy is a valuable popularized material for making into hot working dies applied at elevated temperature.
