In order to improve the performance of Ni-P chemical plating
the ultrafine diamond(UFD) by explosion synthesis was added to the deposit when adopting chemical composite plating method. The mechanism of production and the effect of the content of UFD on microhardness and abradability of the electroless Ni-P composite deposit were studied. The modal particle size of UFD used in the experiment is 114.6 nm.The microhardness was tested with type-71 microhardness meter
and the abradability of deposit was tested with MM200 wear tester made in China. The results show that the "clad ball"
which contains a core of UFD and expresses higher hardness
is clad by Ni-P alloyed particles. The composite deposit is produced on the surface of clad specimen by the deposition of "clad balls".The microhardness and the abradability of electroless Ni-P composite deposit vary regularly with the content of UFD in electroless solution.Compared with Ni-P chemical deposit
the microhardness of composite deposit is improved by 0.6 times
when the content of UFD in electroless solution is 0.8 g/L.The abradability is improved by 4.8 times
when the content of UFD in electroless solution is 1.0 g/L.
