A novel preparation process of molybdenum/copper composites method based on rapid prototyping is proposed.Polymer-coated molybdenum powder used in selective laser sintering is obtained with coating polymer and freezing grinding methods. The experimental study of selective laser sintering has been carried out.Based on the experimental result
the best laser sintering parameters is acquired. The post treatment process of prototyping parts is developed
which is sintering Mo framework at high temperature combined with melting copper infiltration method. Then molybdenum/copper composite samples are gained. The fracture morphology and microstructure of the samples are analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The results show that copper and molybdenum have been intently jointed together
and there is minute quantity of porosities in molybdenum/copper composites. The main mechanical and thermal properties of the material have been tested and calculated
concluding with tensile strength(470 MPa)
elastic modulus(267.8 GPa)
elongation(15%)
linear expansion(5.5×10-6/K). The technique and material can be applied to manufacturing fire-resisting parts of weaponry and aerospace arms
as well as conductance and cooling elements used to electronic industry.
