PP/Mg(OH)2/POE ternary blends were prepared on a twin-screw extruder in the present of various ethylene-1-octene copolymer(POE) content. The limited oxygen index and the rheology behavior of the blends were measured using HC-2 oxygen index tester and XLY-Ⅱ capillary rheometer
respectively. The curves of shear stress versus shear rate
apparent viscosity versus shear rate as well as apparent viscosity versus temperature were analyzed. The results showed that the addition of MH and POE did not change the pseudoplastic of PP matrix
and the melt displayed shear-thinning phenomenon. With the increase of POE content
the apparent viscosity decreased and the activation energy of viscous flow also reduced slightly. It was indicated that the rheological behavior of the melt showed weak temperature sensitivity
