This work presented the fabrication of hollow and hollow core/shell CeO2 microspheres through a one-step and two-step template direct method by using carbon spheres as templates
Ce(NO3)3·6H2O as cerium source
and NH4Ac·2H2O as a precipitant.The as-prepared products were characterized through X-ray diffraction(XRD) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM)
and the surface area and catalytic properties on CO conversion of them were measured through nitrogen adsorption-desorption(BET) and gas chromatography. It reveals that both the hollow and hollow core/shell CeO2 microspheres show a high surface area of 24.92 m2·g-1 and 37.10 m2·g-1
and a high catalytic efficiency of CO conversion
respectively.In particular
compared to the hollow CeO2 microspheres
the hollow core-shell CeO2 microspheres display a higher surface area and catalytic efficiency of CO conversion
suggesting that the properties of materials can be greatly enhanced by adjusting the morphology and the specific structure of them.
