In this paper

five basic factors influencing on subpixel registration are analyzed and discussed

i.e.

transfer function of imaging system

sampling frequency

digitization error

the form of interpolation function and inherent error of the method itself. Some measures taken to reduce the errors are proposed on the basis of discussions and analyses.
