This paper is about concurrency control for advanced database systems. At first

we discuss concurrency control and recovery in traditional database systems. Then we analyze these approaches of conventional concurrency control which is unacceptable for advanced database systems that requir long duration transactions. The current situation and the future directions of concurrency control for advanced database systems are also presented.
