Bismaleimide (BMI) is one of advanced matrix resin polymeric composites for aerospace and aviation industry . Major disadvantages are its inherently brittle and high curing and postcuring temperature. Various attempts have been made to overcome these disadvantages of BMI in the past years. The development of modification of BMI is reviewed. Many modification researches are divided into five classes. Modification mechanism of each class is reported in details. The development of high technology will have opportunity for modification BMI in the future. Low cost and processes without pollution will be one of important research areas for modification of BMI.
